Dr. (Prof.) D R THAKUR, Director UGC- HRDC, Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla

imageDr. (Prof.) D R Thakur (M Sc., Ph D, DHE, MJMC) is presently working as Sr. Professor in department of Biosciences, Himachal Pradesh University, Summerhill, Shimla, HP. He joined HP University in 2001 after serving as Lecture in Dept. of Education, Govt. of HP for about seven years.  D R Thakur, is former Chairman Dept. of Biosciences, presently holding the additional responsibility of Director, International Students’ Welfare, has guided two Post Doctorate Fellows, eight Ph D, thirty five M.Phil students, completed four Research Projects of different granting agencies and published about hundred sixty research papers of national and international repute.  He is Member editorial Board of many research journals including American Journal of Entomology and referee of many national and International research journals.  D R Thakur has also served as President, Himachal Pradesh University Biological Society (HUBS), President Himachal Pradesh University Teachers’ Welfare Association, General Secretary, Himachal Pradesh University, Alumni Association and Member Expert, Institutional Animal Ethics Committee, Himachal Pradesh University, Summerhill, Shimla. He is life members of many national and International academic bodies and visited South Africa, New Zealand, Thailand, Portugal, Greece, Canada and Germany in context with academic activities.  He is member expert of State Wetland Authority, HIMCOSTE, Govt. of HP, Member Task Force, MOEF&CC, Govt. of India, and Member Expert, Evaluator, Examiner, Research Advisor and Moderator of many Academic bodies in State and Central Universities and State Public Service Commissions. D R Thakur has served as Chairman, State Focus Group for development of Curriculum on Environment Science for State Curriculum Frame Work under New Education Policy - 2020, SCERT, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. He has been awarded six Prizes and Awards by different agencies and societies. D R Thakur has been publishing on many current issues of public concern in regional and national news papers and has published thirteen new and first records from India and pioneer to compile the breeding of some migratory ducks and faunal diversity of a High Altitude Wetland, “Chandertal” a Ramsar Site in Trans Himalayas.
